FERW commends FIFA President Gianni Infantino for his unwavering commitment to combatting racism in the sport.
During his recent address at the UEFA Congress, President Infantino reiterated the urgent need for action to address the alarming increase in racist incidents in football. FERW stands in solidarity with President Infantino’s call to action, recognizing the imperative of eradicating racism from the beautiful game.
President Infantino highlighted recent distressing incidents, including AC Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan being subjected to racist chants and Coventry City’s Kasey Palmer facing abuse from opposing fans. These incidents underscore the pressing need for decisive measures to tackle racism in football.
FERW fully supports President Infantino’s proposal for collective action over the coming months leading up to the FIFA Congress in May in Bangkok. We echo his call for unity among all 211 FIFA member countries in presenting a resolute stance against racism.
As an organization dedicated to promoting equality and rights in football, FERW emphasizes that there is no place for discrimination of any kind in the sport or wider society. We commend President Infantino for his leadership in addressing this critical issue and pledge our continued support in the fight against racism in football.
