(FIFA) – The eagerly-awaited FIFA eNations Cup™ 2019 was played out in style last weekend where 40 countries from six confederations went head-to-head for global glory in London.

It was France who were crowned the inaugural winners and can now boast to having the No1 national team on EA SPORTS FIFA 19, as well as having the best on-field national side having won last year’s FIFA World Cup™.

With some of the world’s leading eFootballers taking to the stage and representing their country in an official capacity for the first time, there was naturally drama, tension, excitement and plenty of goals! FIFA.com takes a look at some notable numbers from the past weekend’s tournament.

The No1 players on Xbox and PlayStation were present at the FIFA eNations Cup – and their respective countries both met in the knockout stage. England’s Xbox titan ‘F2Tekkz’ and PlayStation top dog ‘Nicolas99fc’, of Argentina, both reached the quarter-finals. The FIFA eClub World Cup team-mates avoided each other in the 2v2 and it was ‘Nicolas99fc’ who was celebrating as the clash concluded; his national team-mate ‘Yagocai’ seeing off ‘F2Tekkz’ in the Xbox clash as the South Americans advanced to the next round en route to the final. It was the first tournament this season where the English FIFA 19 Global Series Xbox Ranking leader hadn’t reached the semi-finals.

The number of goals scored in the Group A 1v1 thriller between Finland’s ‘Sn1pguy’ and Saudi Arabia’s ‘The Royal’ which ended in an incredible 5-5 draw. The significance of that result? It eliminated one of the pre-tournament favourites at the group stage and helped the eventual winners advance. Saudi Arabia, who had FIFA eWorld Cup champion ‘MsDossary7’ in their ranks, bowed out after the fifth-round games on Sunday after being stunned by the plucky Finns. It meant eventual champions France, who needed Finland to do them a favour against Saudi Arabia, progressed before clinching global glory.

Ranked 27th in the world ahead of the FIFA eNations Cup, Argentina’s ‘Yagocai’ showed how he can rub shoulders with the planet’s elite. Despite not playing on his preferred console, the Independiente player – competing on Xbox rather than PlayStation – pulled off numerous impressive results which included beating ‘F2Tekkz’ in the 1v1 quarter-finals before seeing off ‘Ustun’ in the semis.

29

The number of points England had after the conclusion of the group stage – the most of anyone at the tournament. ‘F2Tekkz’ and ‘FUTWIZTom’ were in electric form – undefeated in the 2v2s and eventually topping Group A which consisted of juggernauts Saudi Arabia and eventual winners France. After ‘FUTWIZTom’ earned an impressive draw against PlayStation No1 ‘Nicolas99fc’, the eLions exited the tournament after ‘Yagocai’ recorded a 2-0 win over ‘F2Tekkz in the Xbox 1v1.

With 35 goals each, England and Denmark showed how lethal they are in front of goal as both finished as the tournament’s top scorers. England’s ‘F2Tekkz’ and ‘FUTWIZTom’ also had the highest goal difference: a staggering +21. In comparison, Denmark’s ‘Marcuzo’ and ‘Ustun’ had +3. With just six goals to their name, South Africa finished bottom of the scoring charts in London.

92

Portugal netted a dramatic winner with 92 minutes on the clock in their 2v2 fifth-round game against Australia, clinching Group D’s top spot in the process. With all Group D teams still in with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stage going into the final day, the stakes were extremely high. Portugal’s late-winner sparked wild celebrations from ‘Tuga810_’ and ‘RastaArtur’, the pair eventually reaching the semi-finals. It was perhaps fitting that it was scored by compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo.

467

The number of goals scored over two days of an action-packed FIFA eNations Cup, making it a goal-bonanza! Fans were treated to some outrageously good goals over the course of 136 games, often resulting in exuberant celebrations.

1,500

The number of EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series points that ‘Maestro’ and ‘DaXe’ each bagged on the back of their FIFA eNations Cup victory. It means the French duo will move up the FIFA 19 Global Series Rankings and take a significant step forward on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup™ 2019.
